SOMERSET — The Community Foundation for the Alleghenies is pleased to announce that Pamela Tokar-Ickes has joined its team as the director of its Somerset County Community Funds.

In her role, Tokar-Ickes will lead the Community Foundation’s initiatives in Somerset County,
helping current donors to benefit the causes they care about, working with new donors to meet
their charitable goals, and providing insight into the concerns and priorities in the county as to
better inform the Foundation’s grantmaking.

“The Foundation has been serving Somerset County since 1993 and we are proud of the impact
that we’ve helped our donors to achieve there. Carol Stern helped us to establish a solid
foundation in the county and we are thrilled to now have Pam joining us, with her tremendous
experience in working for the citizens of the county and understanding their needs,” said Mike
Kane, president.

Tokar-Ickes added, “Charitable giving creates the capacity for positive change among
individuals, communities, and organizations. I look forward to working with our donors on the
issues they care about and creating new connections that can make a difference throughout
Somerset County.”

Tokar-Ickes is a former Somerset County Commissioner, retiring from public office in
December. During her 16-year tenure she was active in human services, economic
development, and worked closely with a number of local nonprofits. She has been a lifelong
resident of Somerset County, where she lives with her husband Mark. The couple has two
children and three grandchildren.
