Privacy Policy

 Last updated: June 6, 2022.

This website is owned and operated by the Community Foundation for the Alleghenies. Your right to privacy is very important to us.  We are committed to the lawful, fair, and transparent collection and use of personal information. This policy is intended to help you understand how our foundation (including our affiliates) collects and uses your personal information, as well as how we share, store, and protect that information. If at any time you have questions about this notice, please contact us at: info@cfalleghenies.org.

BY VISITING AND/OR USING OUR SITES, YOU AGREE THAT YOUR VISIT AND/OR USE AND ANY DISPUTE OVER OUR ONLINE PRIVACY PRACTICES IS GOVERNED BY THIS PRIVACY POLICY AND OUR TERMS OF USE.

We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices and applicable law.

What information we collect about you

Information you provide about yourself or your organization

If you submit content to public areas of our sites, it will be available to the public and we may reuse and republish such information at our discretion and in accordance with our Terms of Use.  Please understand that you submit such content at your own risk.

If you register an organization to be listed on our sites, the information entered about your organization will be available to the public unless otherwise noted, and we may reuse and republish such information at our discretion and in accordance with our Terms of Use.

We collect your personal information when you voluntarily provide it to us. For example, you may give us: your email address, physical address, phone number, and areas of interest if you choose to receive newsletter updates or other information from us; your contact information, and any other personal information you choose to include, if you email or call us, or other information you submit via online portals, forms, surveys, or interactive portions of our site.

It is your choice whether to provide this personal information. However, some personal information must be provided to participate in certain programs, activities, or events.  For example, if you are a donor and want to access information about your fund, it will be necessary for you to provide personal information, so the decision not to provide information might limit or eliminate certain functions of our sites or your ability to participate. Please do not disclose more personal information than is requested.  We will not share information you provide us with third parties other than as indicated in this Privacy Policy.

Data we collect automatically

We may collect some personal information automatically. For example, when you visit a Foundation site, we may collect your Internet Protocol (IP) address, Internet service provider (ISP), and browser type and language. We also may use cookies and similar technologies to collect data about your interaction with our sites, including referring webpage, pages visited on our sites, and crash data.

Minors
Our site is not intended for minors (individuals under the age of 13, or equivalent minimum age depending on jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you become aware of any personal information we have collected from a minor, please contact us at: info@cfalleghenies.org. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a minor, we will take steps to delete the information without notice as soon as possible.

How we use your information

Purposes

We may use your personal information to: send you information you have expressly chosen to receive.  For example, when you register to receive a newsletter or identify your areas of interest, we add your name to our email newsletter list(s). We use these lists for follow-up contacts with you. This is our way of keeping you up to date on our services, programs, events, and benefits. This also enables you to receive current information about the local, national, and global community to better meet your philanthropic needs. If you do provide us with your email address, and register your interest in receiving follow-up information, we may notify you from time to time about the Community Foundation for the Alleghenies’ products, services and benefits. At all times, we include “opt-out” instructions with the e-mail that is sent to you.

We may also use your personal information to administer and inform our program strategies and charitable activities; administer, safeguard, and improve our site, systems, facilities, events, and other business operations; protect our rights and the safety of others; and/or to comply with applicable law, court order, subpoena, or legal process served on us.

The website usage information (e.g., log files, cookies, Internet tags, web beacons, etc.) we collect from you will be used to (a) monitor the operation, technical functions and quality of our sites, (b) compile general statistics regarding use of the Site, and (c) analyze demographic information about our sites’ users. We may also use such information for research or improvements of our sites and the services we offer you. This data is also used by the Foundation to deliver customized content and advertising to you when your online behavior indicates that you are interested in a particular subject area.

When we share your information

Employees, agents, affiliates, service providers, and partners

We may share your personal information with our employees, agents, and affiliates who have a business need to know, our services providers (including contingent workers, consultants, contractors, vendors, and out-sourced service providers) to process it for us based on our instructions and for no other purpose, and with partners that are collaborating with us to fund projects or host events. We do not share your personal information with any third party (including our service providers) for marketing purposes. If you believe personal information you provided to us is being misused by a third party, please contact us right away.

Law enforcement

We may share your personal information with law enforcement, other government agencies or authorities, or third parties as required by applicable law, court order, subpoena, or legal process served on us.

If ownership of all or substantially all of the Foundation were to change, your information may be transferred to the new owner so that our sites can continue to operate.  In any such transfer of information, your information would remain subject to the promises made in any pre-existing privacy policy.

Choice and access to your information

If you register with us, you will have the opportunity to review and update the information you have provided us at any time (except, of course, any information that we do not store). If you remove your registration information completely by contacting the Foundation directly, you may not be able to continue using certain services or areas of our sites that require registration. You agree that we may use your information to contact you for customer service, to inform you of important changes or additions to the Site or the services offered over our sites and to send you administrative notices or any communications relevant to your use of our sites.

If you have subscribed to one of our email newsletters or to other non-administrative correspondence, you will always have the opportunity to unsubscribe from future mailings (for example, by clicking on an unsubscribe link in an email newsletter).

Security online

Protection

As the transmission of data via the internet is not completely secure, we cannot guarantee the security of your information transmitted to our sites and any such transmission is at your own risk. However, we maintain appropriate technical and organizational measures, to prevent unauthorized disclosure of, or access to, personal information. We limit access to personal information and require that employees authorized to access personal information maintain the confidentiality of that data. We hold our service providers to at least the same data privacy and security standards to which we hold ourselves.

When using our forms to register or receive information from the Community Foundation for the Alleghenies, we take steps to ensure that the information sent between your computer and our system is secure. We use the Secure Service Layer (SSL) encryption method for all secure submissions. SSL is a widely recognized method to help insure that the transmission of personal information is secure. Some common browsers, i.e. Internet Explorer, make it obvious when information is being passed in a secure manner by displaying either a completed key or a closed lock on the screen.
