The Verma Family Sports and Activities Fund has been established by Westmont graduate Richard Verma (Class of 1986) and his family to support Westmont Hilltop students who may need extra financial support to cover fees or other costs associated with after-school sports or school activities.
Richard recalls the support he received from the ice hockey booster club in 1985 and 1986. “The booster club helped us at a time of need. I was so grateful for the support I received. This is a debt I’ve wanted to repay for 35 years, and so I’m very glad that with the help of the Community Foundation, and with generous matching gifts, we were able to establish this Fund to assist kids and families who may need the extra support.”
The Verma Family Sports and Activities Fund is endowed at the Community Foundation for the Alleghenies. Earnings from the fund will support qualified students’ activities permanently. Distributions from the fund will be managed by the school district. Through matching programs, additional support for the fund was provided by the Ford Foundation, the Mastercard Foundation, and the T. Rowe Price Foundation. The Fund is endowed at just over $100,000 value today and is open for additional donations.
