The Rodney’s Brother Love Foundation was created in loving memory of Rodney “Rodster” Howsare, a Meyersdale resident who passed away in October 2019, less than 2 months after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. The purpose of the fund is to provide financial support for people in Somerset County with an active medical condition who are in financial need, with preference given to individual residents living in Meyersdale.

Applications can be completed by the patient or by another individual. Distributions will be in the $50-1,000 range. Payments will not be made to individuals. Instead, staff from the Community Foundation for the Alleghenies will work with individuals chosen for support in order to pay expenses directly, including outstanding medical or utility bills, or reimburse for costs incurred, like lodging related to medical appointments or travel expenses.
