Community Foundation for the Alleghenies showed strong rankings in a recently released national survey of community foundations. In the newest Columbus Survey, which includes data compiled from 251 community foundations for FY 2018, CFA ranked 33rd in total transactions, with 11,516 transactions reported.

“The number of transactions really demonstrates the volume of work the Foundation, our donors, and our partners are doing to make our community better,” Foundation President Mike Kane said. “Those numbers represent gifts in that we’ve received from people who care about their community and grants, scholarships, and other investments we are able to distribute back out into the community.”

The transaction rate is especially significant when compared to community foundations that are much larger in terms of assets. CFA ranked 133rd in asset size in the survey and reported $34.60 in gifts per capita for a service area of 330,000 people. For more information about the Foundation, visit cfalleghenies.org.

The Columbus Survey was started by the Columbus Foundation in 1988 and has been administered by New York City-based CF Insights since 2008. The survey collects data to uncover financial trends and operational activity among community foundations in the United States.
