As students consider plans for the fall, a big part of that planning involves piecing together funding for their post-secondary education.

Community Foundation for the Alleghenies manages nearly 250 scholarship funds, which distribute more than 450 awards.

Last year, CFA funds awarded more than $800,000 in scholarships for the 2018-19 school year. In addition, the state matched nearly $170,000 of that funding through its Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency’s PATH Match Program, doubling certain CFA scholarships for qualifying students. There are 40 PATH partners across the state, and CFA is the only one in our region.

CFA scholarships are available to students from every school district in Bedford, Cambria, Indiana, and Somerset counties, with a wide range of qualifying GPAs, interests, and pursuits. Awards are also available for students who attend all types of post-secondary schools, and students in all phases of their education.

Awards range from hundreds to thousands of dollars. As anyone making their way through college today will tell you, every dollar counts.

If you or someone you know is thinking about college, visit our Scholarship page for an easy-to-search listing of all the awards available through CFA.

If you have any questions about existing scholarships or are interested in starting a scholarship fund of your own, please reach out to Katrina Perkosky, who oversees all of our scholarship funds: kperkosky@cfalleghenies.org / (814) 208-8411.
