DESCRIPTION:November is a time for giving thanks for all of the things in our lives. The bountiful feast that we will all enjoy on Thanksgiving is the result of the hard work of farmers. To support our small farmers in Cambria and Indiana counties\, we’ve set up a fund at the Community Foundation for the Alleghenies. The purpose of the fund is to provide small grants to support business plan development that focuses on sustainable (profitable) farming models\, including providing match funding for sustainable farming projects and the development of conservation best management practices. All proceeds from this race are deposited in this fund for future grant making and support for our local small farmers. Join us for a great event while supporting a vital cause!

Locally grown food looks and tastes better\, is better for you\, preserves genetic diversity\, is safe\, supports local families\, builds a strong community\, preserves open space\, reduces taxes\, and invests in our future! Unfortunately\, despite all of these great benefits\, small farms are disappearing at an alarming rate! It is up to us to change this! \nTo support our small farmers in Cambria and Indiana counties\, we’ve set up a fund at the Community Foundation for the Alleghenies. The purpose of the fund is to provide small grants to support business plan development that focuses on sustainable (profitable) farming models\, including providing match funding for sustainable farming projects and the development of conservation best management practices. \nAll proceeds from this race are deposited in this fund for future grant-making and support for our local small farmers. Following the ceremony\, walk or bike the new 8-mile path. \nWhen the entire 15 mile extension is completed\, this trail extension will form the first continuous loop rail-trail in the U.S. \nWhen: Tuesday\, Sept. 26th\, 10 a.m. \nWhere:\nVic Miller Rd. Trailhead\n227 Vic Miller Rd\nStrongstown\, PA 15957\nParking along Vic Miller Rd. \n  \nSchedule:\nOpening Remarks\nFeatured Speakers\nTrail Dedication\nRibbon cutting\nBike Sojourn (8 mi/16 mi)\nWalking Tour \nBike Sojourn: If you plan to participate in the Bike Sojourn\, please RSVP to Leanna Bird at LBird@co.cambria.pa.us by Sept. 15th. There will be an 8 mile and a 16 Mile (out and back) option.
