Do you want to help Somerset County protect its medical and emergency response community during our response to COVID-19? If you can sew, we need your skills. If you can’t, you can give today to support this grassroots response: CLICK HERE to make a simple, secure online donation.

Right now, surgical masks are being distributed locally to those who now need them most. Initial supplies will be depleted quickly and additional disposable masks cannot be found.

If you are willing to give your time and have the skills to sew these masks, please reach out to Somerset County Commissioner Pam Tokar-Ickes at

Materials can be provided for you, or, if you have 100% cotton (please do not use cotton flannel) and 1/4” elastic to spare, your donation of materials would be appreciated. CLICK HERE for the pattern. If you have what you need you can get started now.

4-H chapters, nursing home residents, student volunteer organizations and church groups are are encouraged to coordinate your efforts (from your homes) and establish a single point of contact with the County.
