A native of Canada\, she has been awarded many of her country’s most prestigious distinctions for young musicians. Mia Venezia is a first-year graduate harp performance student at Northwestern University\, and earned her undergraduate degree at Carnegie Mellon University. SUMMARY:2019 Mt. Davis Gravel Grinder
DESCRIPTION:“The Quick and The Dead” – A Mt. Davis Gravel Grinder is a gravel road bicycle race from Confluence Pennsylvania. The route will take you up and over the highest point in the State\, Mt. Davis. You can choose either the 68 mile long course with 50 miles of gravel and over 7’500 accumulative vertical feet or the 48 mile short course that is no small feat in itself to accomplish. Come for the challenge and stay for the fun! The name says it all. Will you be one of the Quick (fast) or one of the Dead (not so fast)? \nThis is a Nonprofit event with all of the proceeds going to the Local Volunteer Fire Departments of Somerset County that support the local Townships and Boroughs along the course. The venue will be held at the Confluence VFD’s event building on Barlow Street. Food & Entertainment will follow the race event. The Confluence VFD will be receiving the largest percentage of the proceeds for hosting the event. \nAll fundraising is being done on behalf of the Community Foundation for the Alleghenies (CFA) – Mt. Davis Gravel Grinder Fund. CFA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and contributions are tax deductible to the fullest extent permitted by law. DESCRIPTION:Enjoy a fun day on the links in a Scramble format. You can sign up a team of four golfers\, or sign up individually and be paired with other golfers looking to make a difference in the community of Johnstown. Each entry will come with complimentary lunch and beverages provided at Ebensburg Country Club. \nAbout the event: Anthony “Bearcat” Swalligan was a son\, brother\, uncle\, cousin\, and friend. He is missed everyday by those who loved him. He left a lasting impression on everyone who met him. He was truly a one of a kind individual who left this world too soon. \nAnthony lost his battle with addicition on February 23rd\, 2016. The following year his family and friends hosted the first ever Anthony Swalligan Memorial 3 on 3 basketball tournament. The tournament was able to raise enough money to bring Chris Herren\, former NBA player and person in long term recovery\, to Johnstown to speak with local high school seniors.
