What does this benefit?

The party will benefit the community through the Foundation.

This is not a party merely for the fun of it alone—although we certainly do plan to have fun!—but one that will be a local benefit as well by supporting the economic and community initiatives of the Community Foundation for the Alleghenies.  Some of its recent efforts range from helping to steer development of local whitewater tourism, helping to start a Big Brothers/Big Sisters in Moxham, providing new winter coats for children in Cambria, Somerset and Bedford counties, and cleaning up illegal dumps in northern Cambria and Bedford counties.

Through the community’s support, the Community Foundation casts its net wider than many people know: this past year it purchased ice skating sleds for special needs children, supported the Chamber and Young Professionals of the Alleghenies with its 20/20 Regional Visioning, provided safety equipment to the BMX track at Highland Park in Richland, supported the community effort to keep the Chiefs in town, helped start a group of local professionals dedicated to building cleaner, more energy efficient buildings, and much more.

Finally, the party is a one-shot deal—there will not be a 102nd birthday party next year.

A special thanks to Mark and Ed for allowing us to throw a party for the benefit of the community!
